About Global Institute of Human Development
To contribute to the society in a long-term and sustainable way, Global Institute of Human Development (GHID) was established by Dr. Syed Usman Hamdani, Director Human Development Research Foundation (HDRF), the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board of Trustees of HDRF as an educational subsidiary Trust of Human Development Research Foundation (HDRF). The Institute received initial endowment in the form of land and assets from HDRF to become a world class educational institution and to promote human development, globally. The institute was admitted to the privileges of the university as a constituent unit of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad on 6th February, 2020 and is now working as a self-sustaining department of Population Health Sciences of the University.
GIHD is a research-intensive educational institute which builds on decades’ long legacy of improving lives through research. Our programmes are informed by indigenous research, conducted to the best global standards.
Our work is focused on building capacity in the areas of health, education, social and biological sciences to contribute to the development of physically, mentally and socially healthy communities around the world. We design a range of high-quality certificates, diplomas and degree courses in the development field tailored to address global development challenges in the twenty-first century.
