The Institute of Public Health, Nursing, and Midwifery at the Global Institute of Human Development (GIHD) is recognized by the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) as a teaching institute to train healthcare professionals to deliver accessible, comprehensive, and compassionate healthcare services, envisioning a society where well-being is paramount. Diploma Programmes offered at IPHN&M

The Institute of Public Health Nursing and Midwifery (IPHN&M) offers following two comprehensive diploma programmes. These courses aim to provide specialized training in health visiting and midwifery for aspiring healthcare professionals.

  1. Lady Health Vistor (LHV) Course-2-year Diploma Programme
  2. Community Midwifery (CMW) Course 2-year Diploma Programme
Learning Objectives of the Diploma Programmes

Education and Training:

Offer comprehensive and standardized education and training programme, encompassing theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and clinical experience.

Enhance the clinical, communication, counseling, and leadership skills, enabling the future frontline healthcare professionals to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.

Knowledge Dissemination:

Promote the dissemination of up-to-date and evidence-based information on maternal and child health, family planning, nutrition, hygiene, and other relevant topics.

Community Engagement:

Foster strong partnerships and collaborations with communities, healthcare organizations, government bodies, and non-governmental organizations to address the healthcare needs of women, infants, and communities effectively.

Advocacy and Empowerment:

Empower students to advocate for the rights, health, and well-being of women, children, and communities, ensuring they have the resources and support necessary to lead healthy lives.

Encourage research and innovation in the field of maternal and child health, midwifery, and community healthcare, contributing to the development of evidence-based practices and improving healthcare outcomes.

Lady Health Visitor (LHV) Course – 2-year Diploma Programme

The Lady Health Visitor (LHV) course offered by IPHN&M holds recognition from the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC). This diploma program is meticulously designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become proficient and empathetic Lady Health Visitors. The curriculum encompasses comprehensive training in maternal and child health, family planning, nutrition, and disease prevention. Our students undergo a blend of theoretical education and hands-on experience, fostering expertise and self-assurance to effectively serve their communities. Upon completion, LHV diploma graduates are well-prepared to contribute positively to the healthcare sector and embark on a rewarding career as Lady Health Visitors.

Eligibility Criteria for Lady Health Visitor (LHV) Course:

  • At least 45% marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects. Candidates unable to secure admission due to the medical test results are given preference

           OR

  • At least 45% marks in Matric Science (with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects).
  • Age limit: 14 to 35 years

Community Midwifery (CMW) Course- 2-year Diploma Programme

The Community Midwifery (CMW) Course offered by IPHN&M holds recognition from the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC). The CMW diploma program has been designed for training of females as midwives who can provide maternal and newborn care to women and children of their communities.

Eligibility Criteria for Community Midwifery (CMW) Course:

  • Matric (Science or Arts) with at least 40% marks.
  • Merit is based on educational qualifications and includes (5) marks for Quran memorization.
  • Age limit: 14 to 40 years.
